Grand-Bassam
Located in the southeastern part of Côte d’Ivoire on the coast, about 45 kilometers east of Abidjan, Grand-Bassam was the first port, economic and legal capital of Côte d’Ivoire.
An historical town, Grand-Bassam was made a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural site in 2012. Its opening on the Atlantic Ocean and proximity to the city of Abidjan make fishing, crafts and tourism the main economic activities of the city.
Grand-Bassam appears as the first artisanal center of the country and is home to more than 1000 artisans who work wood, gold, bronze, silver and batik with a varied production: sculpture, ceramics, basketry, jewelry, pottery.

Highly cultural, the population of Grand-Bassam is known for its attachment to its cultural roots and its engagement into its traditional cultural practices among which the famous feast of Abissa who gathers thousands of participants every year.
The city is also one of the most touristic town of Côte d’Ivoire thanks to its rich cultural and traditional heritage, its resorts along the beaches and its restaurants with varied dishes who attract thousands of national and international tourists every year.
