The International University of Grand-Bassam is seeking a dynamic person to fill the position of Academic Advisor in the Student Affairs and Enrollment Department.

It opened in 2005, and, by the signing of Decree 2007-499 on May 16, 2007, was formally accredited as a University within the Côte d’Ivoire higher education system. BASIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
Academic advising is a developmental process that considers students’ academic needs, goals, and prior education. The Academic Advisor supports students in understanding the curriculum and organizing their studies, while also contributing to the recruitment of prospective students across the country.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties:
- Assist in developing academic advising policies and procedures,
- Support students in understanding the IUGB curriculum,
- Assist students with registration each semester,
- Maintain up-to-date and in-depth knowledge of the undergraduate curriculum and academic requirements for all programs,
- Monitor students’ academic progression and work with the Deans or the Director of UPP on any related issues,
- Contribute to the development of the Academic Advising Handbook,
- Manage and update student advising folders,
- Assist in organizing academic advising workshops and orientation sessions related to curriculum and academic planning,
- Collaborate with faculty advisors to ensure that each student meets degree requirements,
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Ability to maintain discretion and handle confidential information,
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public, Thorough understanding of the U.S. higher education system,
- Ability to motivate and guide students,
- Excellent communication skills, oral, written, in person, and by phone,
- Ability to plan, organize, and schedule activities and events,
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and French,
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Access database, and internet tools.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication (or related field),
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
