January not only brought a new year, but also four new full time instructors to IUGB. Three are teaching in the University Preparatory Program, and one in the School of Science and Engineering.
All bring their diverse educations and experiences to our institution, having worked in the Far East, the United States, Europe and Cameroon.

Dr. Nkelaka Jeanne Achanga began her teaching journey in Cameroon, building a strong foundation in English language education. She holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Dschang. In 2024, she also earned her Teaching English to Foreign Learners (TEFL) certification. She has over 10 years of teaching experience, having served in both secondary and tertiary education in Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire.
She currently teaches at the International University of Grand Bassam, where she develops curricula and supports students’ success in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Her scholarly interests focus on multilingualism, language, identity, and cross-cultural communication, informed by her academic research and classroom practices.

Mr. Mark Andersen, Senior Lecturer, has spent a lifetime as teacher, teacher trainer, director of studies and government advisor in the UK, Greece, Denmark and France.
He holds a series of qualifications from leading universities across Europe, including Dip. Ed. In Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Liverpool. In conjunction with his career in education, he has a prolific background in the business world as CEO and CMO in tech companies in Europe. He speaks five languages.

Ms. Emily Eichman is a teacher, instructional designer, and task-based trainer, having worked with the full range of students from nursery school through university and adults – in Japan, China, the United States, and Côte d’Ivoire. She earned her master’s degree – International Relations from Bond University in Australia, bachelor’s degree – Communications and Business Administration from the University of Jamestown, USA, and TEFL/TESOL certifications from the Peace Corps and World TESOL Academy.
She has been an English Language Fellow for the U.S. Dept of State, Peace Corps volunteer, and member of the Project Management Institute. Besides the education realm, Ms. Eichman has had the opportunity to work in various roles in the fields of human resources, transportation, agriculture, sustainability + resilience, and as a winemaker.

Dr. Paul-Rene Marie N’Gbo is an assistant professor of mathematics, specializing in mathematics and dynamical systems. He brings a rigorous research background into the classroom, focusing on clarity and practical understanding.
He earned his PhD in applied mathematics from Shanghai University, where his research focused on nonlocal differential operators and related numerical methods. Following over a decade of academic and professional life in China, he is fluent in Mandarin and brings a rich cross-cultural outlook to his work. He has authored and co-authored nearly a dozen scholarly articles on these topics and has presented his work at international conferences, including the IEEE.
Beyond academia, he has extensive experience as an instructor in other disciplines, having spent years teaching Taekwondo and Rugby to youth. He draws on this background to foster a supportive classroom environment built on fundamentals, patience, and confidence-building
