IUGB faculty member performs compassionate aid in South Sudan

UPP senior lecturer Emeline Kouame-Boga interpreted for an aid project in November,
bringing relief to people suffering in South Sudan. She worked with the Ivorian-based
organization Messages de Vie, which conducts evangelistic and compassionate initiatives mainly in Cote d’Ivoire and also worldwide. South Sudan has been torn by civil
war for more than 2 decades, leaving the country in extreme poverty and with poor access to education and basic necessities.

During those three weeks in the cities of Wau and Juba, the Ministry Messages de Vie focused on humanitarian aid, providing

  • free medical assistance (consultation, treatments, medicines, surgeries, etc.)
  • free food and non-food items (such as soap, mattresses, clothes, and wheelchairs)
  • free books, clothes, sweets and toys for children

Also, workshops and seminars were organized for students, men, and women to spread
post-conflict rebuilding messages.

Mrs. Kouame-Boga was invited to take part in the direct interventions in Juba from
November 19-23 as an interpreter. She helped with the communication between the medical teams and the patients, and during the different workshops and donations.
We thank IUGB for enabling its faculty to take part in community engagement in Africa.
