IUGB faculty gathered for the semi-annual Faculty Convocation on January 6 and 7. The first morning included stories of student-empowering projects described by Brione LaThrop (BSS), Desiré Kossounou (BSS), Marie Agnes Mabande (UPP), Dr. Crepin Pene (SSE), and Dr. Nouhoun Kané (SSE). The second, Mohamed Lekrama and Mark Andersen (UPP) led a hands- on, experiential learning workshop on project-based learning.


Following that Dr. Marcel Silue gave presented a proposal to enhance research and entrepreneurship at IUGB, followed by poster presentations by Dr. Pene (Genetic Variations and Heritability for Juice Quality and Yield Traits in Irrigated Sugarcane), Dr. Kan N’Dri (The Nexus between Agricultural Aid and Poverty Alleviation in Sub-Saharan Africa), and Dr. Aurelie Akossi (On stable Estimation of Transmission Rates for Vector-borne Diseases).
The usual address from the Provost, department faculty meetings and academic council update rounded out the program.
