Admission Requirements

Admission
The University strives to recruit qualified students for pursuing various degrees at IUGB. Admissions requirements have been established in accordance with the University vision and approved by the IUGB Board. They are based on completion of secondary school, on personal qualities and good conduct. Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for admission will be referred to the University Preparatory Program (UPP) or to the Center for Continuing Education (CCE). Admission Criteria: The following are criteria for admissions to freshman status:

  • Minimum TOEFL® IBT score of 71, or ITP/PBT 530 or IELTS® 6.0.
Admissions procedure: Students are encouraged to begin the admissions process early. They can apply before they have the results of their High school diploma (Baccalaureate) for conditional admissions until the official scores are available. Placement Testing
Applicants missing TOEFL® or IELTS® will be tested for English placement. These students will be placed at university level, in a UPP level, or encouraged to study in CCE.
Admissions Decisions
Upon application, the following admissions statuses can be granted:
  • Undergraduate – fully admitted
  • Undergraduate – conditionally admitted
  • Pre-undergraduate – sent to general advising for admittance to UPP or CCE
  • Not admitted – (This could be based on prior low performance in UPP, CCE, or IUGB courses, discipline, etc…)
The semester of admission depends on the date of completion of the application file. A student must complete the entire admissions process prior to starting classes. Students may not enter courses after 20% of the semester has elapsed. Students may begin classes in any of the three semesters offered each year: Fall, Spring, or Summer.
University Preparatory Program
Entrance Criteria: Ivorian candidates for admission to the UPP must present proof of successfully completing a high school education. The Admissions Office shall recommend placement in either the UPP or at the appropriate University level to the Admissions committee on the basis of internal assessments of transcripts, standardized tests such as TOEFL® and IELTS®, or the IUGB entrance placement test, course descriptions for transfer credit and as well as interviews if needed. Challenges to placement in the UPP will be examined by the UPP Director. Additional interviews may be necessary. Challenges will not be entertained after the first week of classes for the placement for the current semester. Exit Criteria: The exit criteria for the UPP will be determined by the GPA. Students wishing to exit the University Preparatory Program can take a standardized TOEFL® exam at any time. This exam is administered at various times during the academic year.
Undergraduate Admissions
Students may be accepted directly into one of the two Schools of BSS and STEM upon completion of the Baccalauréat or other end-of-high-school certification, declaration of a major and successful completion of IUGB placement exams. Students may transfer from another university that is using the U.S. style of higher education. Students must be enrolled in the university in order to receive credit for successfully completed courses. Non-credit-bearing courses are open to the public. Some students start at IUGB through courses in Continuing Education, and then later apply to enroll as IUGB students. International Applicants are advised that the IUGB Residences are closed during academic vacations. Provisions for alternative housing during academic vacations should be made by the student.

Fatima Doumbia Koné is a Mathematics lecturer at the international University of
Grand-Bassam (IUGB). Among the courses she taught we have the following: Introduction to
Differential Equations, Elementary Statistics, Calculus(I,II,III), Transforms in Applied Math,
Introduction to Linear Algebra, Operations Research and Abstract Algebra.
She has a Bachelor degree in Mathematics (IUGB), a Master degree in Pure and Applied
Mathematics (AUST) and she is currently enrolled for a PhD in Mathematics at the African
University of Science and Tecnology (AUST), Abuja. She has also been an intern at the
Institutional Banking Group department within GTBANK CI (Garanty Trust Bank Côte
D’Ivoire).
She is a former IUGB student and she was the president of the science club in 2015.
Academically, her goal is to be a great researcher and innovator on the topics of asymptotic
theories in Fuzzy Probability Theory and their various applications to image processing. She
has good programming skills (JAVA, LaTeX, C++) and she is bilingual (French and English).
Over the years, she has been developing a method of teaching which not only put students at
the center of the learning process but also which deconstruct most of the stereotypes about the
inaccessibility of mathematical knowledge to everybody.
Regarding her research activities, she has been working since 2018 on the topic of integration
on Banach spaces and a preprint of an interesting work is available at
https://arxiv.org/pdf/1905.04480. She is continuing with her research on integration but now
her PhD studies focus on Random Sets Integration in Probability Theory. Professionally, she
is a very active lecturer at IUGB and she is currently the faculty advisor of the SHE CLUB,
which aims at promoting women empowerment by providing learning, leadership and
